Hi Folks,

AVA has finally lifted the ban, which started 3 months ago on 19 Sept 08, due to melamine contamination.

Products produced on or after 18 Dec 08 will be allowed to be imported if they meet AVA’s guidelines.

  1. the products must be produced by establishments approved for export by the Chinese authorities,
  2. the manufacturers are required to test each batch of their raw material and products to ensure that they are not contaminated with melamine, and
  3. the Chinese authorities must inspect and test each batch of the products and issue health certificates with results of the melamine test to accompany consignments exported to Singapore.

For us folks, we can do our due diligence by checking the manufacturing date on the milk product we buy if they are from China.

Better safe then sorry.

James

Hi Folks,

Due to the recent Melamine scare, many people have been staying away from China dairy products. Some even stayed away from any China made product. Can I blame them? No, I can’t.

So to this people, knowing where the products are originating from is rather important. But they have a problem when a product does not have a “Made In China” label. Sometimes, you just get a “Product of XYZ” which tells you the make but not where it’s made.
