Acer Aspire Touch and Rotate Notebook (AS1820PTZ)

Singtel Broadband bundled a new Acer touchscreen notebook with their 10Mbps ADSL Broadband service.
I’ve Google it and check on Acer SG website but there was little information until I hit the hot buy link at Acer SG.
Here’s what I found:

Specifications:
- Intel Pentium Processor SU4100
- Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
- Intel GS45 Express Chipset
- Intel WiFi Link 1000
- 2GB RAM
- 320GB HDD (Singnet bundles with 500GB HDD)
- 11.6″ HD LED-backlit TFT LCD
- Integrated Multi-Touch screen, Supporting Finger Touch and Pen Input
- Integrated Bluetooth 2.1+EDR
Looks like it neither a full tablet PC nor a full notebook. I would say it’s a low power consumption notebook that comes with a touch screen as an alternative input option.
It’s a nice little notebook that you can fold over and use it like a tablet … or think of it as a big big iPod.
You can scroll, browse and type using your finger or a stylus instead of using it like typical notebook (with keyboard, that is).
I’m still contemplating whether to get this or should I top up more (monthly) to get the Apple Macbook which is much better in terms of spec (not to mention the cool factor) … but as of writing this, I’m still undecided.

i believe the one singtel is providing comes with 500gig harddisk instead of 350gig

lol i’m contemplating as well between lenovo/Acer/mac or to wait for next week for Singnet offer@Sitex…… btw the cost difference between the Acer and Macbook package for 2yrs is $449/-.

It’s Sunday and I’m still not decided … might just wait for SITEX but I must admit the touchscreen Acer is seductive … I’ve a soft spot for such things …even when logic tells me I don’t have much use for it.
I was comtemplating about getting this touch-screen Acer until I saw the specs above. So it’s a no-go. It looks like a “higher-end” Netbook and low-end Notebook. I went to Sim Lim Sq yesterday and learned that new Tablet PCs will be released in 2 months time by major brands. I think I will wait. I need a Tablet PC with a higher spec, at least an Intel Core 2 and DDR3 RAMs.
Is the Intel GS45 chipset IGP good enough to play DVD movie without lag?

The 1820PT wirh Core2Duo Intel SU7300 will be available in many world markets. Nobody knows yet who gets to purchase which CPU.
