Enrichment Program Review: Shineon! School On Stage

By James

Hi Folks,

Some of you who have been following my blog since it started last year would have read some past postings about activities regarding “Shineon” from time to time.

Some of you also know that my child, Stella, is a student with Shineon – In fact, she has been a Shineon kid for almost 14 months already.

In fact, that’s the only long-termed program that she is committed to week after week, month after month for the past year.

And the best thing is, she asked for it. :)

So what is Shineon?

Well, first of all the full name for the school is “Shineon! School On Stage”.

As the name implies, it’s a school set on a stage … it doesn’t teach you academic stuff (that you learn in school). It’s also different from the CCA’s you find it school.

What it teaches the kids are performing arts such as Modeling, Singing, Acting, Dancing, Hosting. Since Shineon teaches a variety of performing arts, it isn’t bias towards any skill in particular (well, maybe modeling in the early stages of the program).

If your kid is naturally good with Singing, it will stand out during the the program and you will know where their real talent lies.

Shineon excels at letting your kids explore and learn the various performing arts, practices and polish it in a studio-type of setting and showcasing it in a public performance.

A Holistic Curriculum

Given the above reason alone, it would have been enough for me to consider Shineon’s program as having  GREAT VALUE.

But what makes Shineon TRULY GREAT is the Holistic approach it takes to groom your kid.

Here are some of the values Shineon teaches that we find very useful and beneficial.

  • Loving Yourself
  • Be The Best
  • Accepts That Someone Did Better
  • Building Confidence
  • Learn To Be Sociable
  • Learn To Take Instructions
  • Learn To Be Flexible
  • Real World Exposure and Experience
  • Learn Soft Skills with Real World Value
  • Be A Happy Kid

And there are 2 things that we love particularly about Shineon.

  • The Kids Are Well Taken Care Of
  • Parents Can Sit in Class

As you can see, it’s a long list to talk about and if I need to elaborate them in this post, it will take forever to get published.

So this is what I’ll do (to prevent this post from turning into an essay).

Every week after this post, I’ll publish a new post elaborating why I consider one of the above value as important to my kid and how it helps her.

I’ll update this page with a link to that post so you can easily follow this review (just bookmark this page and check back next week). Or better yet, subscribe to your mailing list above to get updates sent to your email directly.

How much time commitment do you need?

A single ~120 minutes session a week is all you need (unless there is a major performance coming up and rehearsal is necessary).

And there are no classes during public holidays so don’t worry, you can still travel during your long weekends.

How Much Does It Cost?

As course fees are subject to change, I don’t think it’s appropriate for me to disclosed the price here but it’s definitely more cost effective then having to take up multiple classes to learn the same thing.

But for those of you who are interested to find out more. You can check out Shineon’s website and contact information here.

So Was Shineon Worth It?

Like I say, my kid is still with them after 14 months and it’s her only long-termed commitment for enrichment program.

14 months ago, Stella was a little girl who wishes to be a singer, dancer and model. She cannot stand the idea of losing and would cry non-stop if she can’t win.

14 months later, Stella is a confident girl who can sing, dance on a public stage or catwalk down a fashion runway. She does her best at every show and accepts that someone has done better when others win and finds ways to improve for the next performance. She does not cry for losing anymore.

So what do you think?

For us, we enrolled Stella into Shineon so she could build up vital soft skills such as Confidence, Good Dress Sense, Public Speaking, Handling Pressure and more. This are important skills for a modern society and we are glad that she has learned them well.

So to us, Shineon’s program was worth it. But that’s us.

It’s best that you judge for yourself if it’s worth it and the only way I know to achieve that is to contact them, talk to them and try the program if you like what you hear.

To contact Shineon, you can either visit their website by clicking here or call them direct at 9489 0079 or 8157 1576.

Cheers,
James
