Hi Folks,
Courts is having a promotion for the newly launch Nikon DSLR – The Nikon D5000.
The D5000 is a scale down version of Nikon D90 with a variable-angle LCD, allowing the photographer to take pictures from angles that are not possible with conventional DSLR.
It also has multiple scene modes (I think it’s 19 of them) to help point and shoot users harness it’s power without the need to know the art of photography (ok, a little overly stated but you get the idea).
So head on down to play with this new baby at Courts (there should be demo sets sitting around).
Cheers,
James

I was planning to buy the same model and this deal seems to be pretty gud deal.
can you suggest me the location where i can buy this from.
Hey Lokesh,
This promotion was the original launch promotion for the Nikon D5000. Nikon’s current Christmas Promotion is below:
http://livinginsingaporetoday.com/7030/nikon-digital-camera-christmas-promotion-2009/
It is available at any of the major Electronics store in Singapore such as Courts, Best Denki and Harvey Norman at Nikon’s suggested retail price of $1299.
The lens in the package has autofocus?
Hey Daniel,
The kit lens Nikon offers for the Nikon D5000 is the AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR (3.0x) .
It’s a autofocus lens, yes.
Details of the lens can be found below:

James, what a swift reply from you
great to know it’s with AF.
Now question about zoom.. in total, how much optical zoom in this package? And on the lens module, is that grip for manual zoom, or manual focus? Thanks!
Hey Daniel,
DSLR’s zoom capability depends on the lens and it’s always optical in nature, in this case it’s 3.0x.
Zooming is done by turning the zoom ring on the lens.
For manual focus, you have to turn the manual focus ring.
Hey james,
Do you know any good promotion deal for Nikon D90 with 18-135mm VR lens?
Hey Dennis,
I have not heard of a Nikon D90 with a 18-135mm VR lens bundle so I can't say what the price/promotion is like.
OR do you mean 18-105mm VR lens?
Any promo for Nikkon d5000 kit nowadays?????
Hey Marie,
Check over here:

is there any promotion for D300S NIKON
Hey Edward,
The current Nikon promotion does not include D300s … maybe there will be one during PC Show 2010.
Current GSS Nikon Promo:

Is the NIkon D5000 and the 199 PWP available?
Where to get the tripod and Akarui dry box as no more store at the COMEX?
Is the price in COMEX ,that is 1099 worth for money??
Anyone has the contact number of the Nikon booth at the COMEX?
Thanks!!
Hey Huey,
You can check out the camera specialty stores around Singapore for their D5000 prices, I find them to be cheaper than at IT Shows most of the time.
Here's where I use to buy from:

Cheers
Note: Free Gifts are usually on a while stocks last basis.
do you know when christmas sales for dslr cameras will be announced in singapore?
also..in your opinion, which camera is better..the canon 500d or nikon d5000?
Hey Robyn,
Usually sometime in Nov.
I think the D5000 is slightly superior with better low light performance … but what you have to consider is what you need a DSLR for?
And if you have any friends or relative that you can share lenses with.
Plus which system’s handling do you prefer (Canon or Nikon handling very differently, i.e. where the knobs and dials are located).
So I suggest, you check this pointers out and think them through … it’ll help you in making a better decision that will suit you better.
Oh and just that you know, I’m a Nikon user. So I’m naturally a little bias towards Nikon
Hi James,
Do you know if there are any promotions on the D3100 anywhere?
And if you had to choose between the Canon 550D and the Nikon D3100, both with the 18-55 VR lense, what would you suggest?
Thanks!
Ishan
Hey Ishan,
I’m still waiting for the details of Nikon promotion for PC Show 2011.
The most recent Nikon promotion can be found below:
http://livinginsingaporetoday.com/16686/nikon-dslr-coolpix-promotion-at-electronics-car-bazaar-2011/
If I have to between those 2 strictly based on performance … I think I’ll go with Canon 550D (and that’s because a fairer comparison for the 550D would be against the Nikon D5100 … in which I would go with the D5100)
Thanks for the info
I’ve been doing some research, and found that even the Canon 1100D is doing quite well now. If you don’t mind me bothering you again, would you suggest the 1100D or the Nikon D3100?
Also, would you suggest waiting for Comex, or should I just go ahead and get them right now. Currently, getting them at around 790$.
Regards,
Ishan
