Yesterday was the start of PC Show 2012, one of the four major IT Shows in Singapore, and Thanks to Greyling PR for the invite, I had a chance to attend walk the main floor on level 4 an hour before the PC Show 2012 is open to the public.
Due to shortage of time … I’ll be focusing my effort on just one subject … the Digital Cameras And DSLR Promotions At PC Show 2012.
In this post, you will find information on the camera brands participating in the PC Show 2012, where they are located, their brochure (or what some of you refer to as price list) and their highlights (if any).
Where Are The Booths Selling Digital Cameras?
Most of the participating camera brands are located on level 4 – I found Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Fujifilm and 2 Samsung Booths selling cameras.
On Level 6, Casio and Nikon are there plus some booth selling Samsung Cameras. Here you will also find other booth selling photography accessories such as flash, tripods, cases and memory cards.

Canon Cameras & DSLR
The Canon Booth is huge and it sits right in the middle of the entire level 4 event floor … walk through Hall 403 and you can’t miss it.
Their highlights for this show is their newly launched shocked proof, water proof and freeze proof Canon Powershot D20 @ S$599 (yes, it’s brand new so don’t expect discounts but it comes with a good mixed of freebies to get you started - refer to brochure for details).
DSLR wise, you will find the Canon EOS 1100D, 600D, 60D and 7D. If you are getting any DSLR from the show, check out their purchase with purchase deals.
Sorry no Canon EOS 5D MkIII or 1Dx.

Nikon Cameras, Nikon 1 Mirrorless Cameras & DSLR
No … you won’t find the Nikon D800 or D4.
No … you won’t even find the Nikon D3200.
But the rest of the Nikon DSLR’s are all here – including the trusty Nikon D90.
As usual, DSLR purchase comes with loads of freebies but the price is still stuck at list price.
If you are planning to get the Nikon 1 … other than freebies, Nikon is throwing in up to S$200 worth of Nikon 1 Accessories with every purchase of either the Nikon 1 V1 or Nikon 1 J1.

Olympus Cameras, PEN & OM-DÂ Mirrorless Cameras
Great news for those of you looking for the Olympus OM-D … I’ve been informed that both the Silver and Black OM-D are in stock at the PC Show 2012.
Bad news is that it’s still S$1888.

You simply can’t miss the Samsung Booths at the PC Show 2012 … you will find even if you are not looking for it … it’s everywhere.
So just drop by and see what they have to offer … who knows, you might just bring one home.

Casio Booth is on the 6 Level … first thing you see if you enter via Hall 602.
And if you still miss it … the promoter will catch your attention … “Buy One, Get One Free Ah!!”

Sandisk Flash Memory Promotion
If you are going to buy any Digital Camera or DSLR, you will need memory cards for it.
Forget those free cards given … they are good if you are not demanding.
But modern Digital Camera and DSLR are demanding … they have 16 or 18 or 24 megapixels … they do High Definition Videos … all those data needs to be written … FAST.
That’s where you need more than the typical Class 4 or 6 SDHC Card that are given as free gifts.
You need at least a Class 10 or the new SDHC UHS-I Cards … and I’ll walk the talk … I bought 2 pieces of 16GB Sandisk Extreme Pro SDHC UHS-I Card for S$73 each.
It’s the fastest your can money can buy now … unless you have the Nikon D4 which needs a different card altogether.
Oh … and the main Sandisk Booth is on Level 3 Concourse.

Someone’s Missing
I did leave the PC Show 2012 feeling somethings missing … like I did not really get all the information I required … I couldn’t place it at that time.
Now I realised I did not see Panasonic and Sony.
I also did not see Velbon and Lowepro.
Maybe I missed them, maybe they did not participate in PC Show 2012 … if you see them, do let me know.
