I just read on Straits Times that there may be No More Apple MacBook Promotions At IT Shows.
And not just MacBooks but also no more iPads, iPods, iPhones, iMacs … basically, anything apple.
Oh, you can still find them at the IT Shows (such as the upcoming IT Show 2012 or later PC Show, COMEX or SITEX) but without promotions … probably not even freebies.
Cos Apple says so …
The year’s first major consumer electronics event, the IT Show, is back on Thursday – but without juicy deals on Apple products from vendors.
Apple Australia, which oversees the Singapore Market, is believed to have advised them to sell the items only at approved stores. – Quote from Straits Times, 6 Mar 2012, Home, Page B1
Already EpiCentre has scaled back the size of their booths at IT Show 2012 and NuBox says they will “focus on selling Apple peripherals and accessories” – which means speakers, headphones, cases for Mac, iPhone, iPods, etc.
That’s the bad news …
The good news is … Telco promotions with Apple products will still be available … which means those iPhone bundle with mobile lines and Apple MacBook bundle with Broadband promotions should still be available.
The better news is that it’s probably not the end of the rope for Apple lovers hunting for special deals or promotions.
If I interpret it correctly … the vendors are “strongly encouraged” to sell the items only at approved stores … so I do believe that’s what the vendors will do … probably run the same promotion AT their own stores!!
We’ll see what happens … cos IT Show 2012 is just 2 days away
