Is Delifrance Breakfast Buffet Worth It?

Hi Folks,

After watching the variety show “Buffet Buffet” on Mediacorp channel 8 a few weeks ago, my family had wanted to try out their recommendation of Delifrance breakfast buffet.

What’s so attractive about it? You get it for just SGD 9.90++ per adult, SGD 6.60++ for children (above 3 but below 12) and toddlers 3 and below is free. However, the buffet is only available on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays … so you may want to keep that in mind.

Today, we finally woke up early enough (and my wife is not working) and made our way to the Delifrance outlet at Compass Point (Seng Kang).

We had high expectations since the show said that it was value for money and the variety was wide for the price it charges. So was it worth it?

I would say our verdict is … it really depends on what you like to eat.

There was about 8 types of pastries, 2 types of bread (you can add butter, jam or kaya) plus hams, sausages, scramble eggs, bake beans and baked tomatoes with stuff cheese. Beverages includes orange juices, coffee and tea.

So there is a good variety of selection for the price but we are used to getting a more wider range of selection then what was given (comparing to hotel breakfast). For this part, we were a bit disappointed.

OK, so the variety is not that great … what about quality of food?

The pastries were of the quality you can get from Delifrance confectionery baskets, plain croissant etc but not those tastier ones over the counter. So if you think you can get Delifrance fruit tarts as part of the buffet … dream on. It’s not all that bad but I did not really enjoy the pastries.

The cooked food portion was much better. Hams were warm and slightly salty. Sausages were tender and not overcooked. Scramble eggs were just … well, scrambled nicely – although I would prefer it to be a little more cheesy. Bake beans were bake beans but the bake tomatoes with stuff cheese was good.

Coffee was full bodied and aromatic when taken without milk and sugar (you can add milk or sugar to your liking) but the orange was a little diluted but sweetness was just nice. No one drank tea so I can’t comment.

So overall, if you are someone who like more meat then flour, prefer coffee to orange and you regularly pay SGD10 or more for your breakfast, it’s not a bad deal … well actually, I can’t think of another buffet breakfast for under SGD 10.

But if you like a flour-based breakfast, I suggest you take your SGD 10 and buy tomorrows breakfast tonight after 9PM at Bread Talk.

Cheers,
James

It is not value for money as the filling of the mini puff is so little.

Then eat like 10 of the mini puff to compensate for the amount of filling you think that isn’t enough.
