Hi Folks,
Do you like watching musicals?
If you do, you should not miss The Lion King, coming to Sands Theater at Marina Bay Sands.
Judging by the trailer (available below), it’s going to be one grand musical that will fill your senses and make you feel like you are right there in Africa!!
But to get the best experience, you gotta get the best seats and that’s the Platinum at S$240 per seat!
Is that really expensive?
I think it’s a little expensive. Why? Well, let’s see …
- ZAIA (a resident show by Cirque du Soleil in Venetian Macau) charges around S$206 for their VIP Sea
- Voyage de la Vie (a resident show at Resort World Sentosa) charges only S$188 for their VIP Seat
- The Lion King at Mandalay Bay (Las Vegas) charges only S$216 for their VIP Seat
So yeah … it’s a little expensive (even when compared to the same show at LA) but you know what?
I’ll probably still go and watch it because the trailer has sold the show to me but I’ll probably not take the Platinum Seats … maybe the A Reserve will be good enough for me.
But if you are planning to watch The Lion King Musical At Marina Bay Sands and want the best seats irregardless of the price … better do it fast.
Because the Platinum seats are selling like hot cakes (it’s the only sold out seats so far and the earliest date you can get a ticket for 2 is 20 Mar 2011 … as I’m writing this post).
Does it concern me?
Not really … like I say, I’ll probably go for A Reserve Seats … unless someone gives me a pair of Platinum, that is

If you have been to the show, can you advise whether the stall seats are better or the dress circle? I notice that usually the stall seats are the ones gone first. Would the first row be too near? Thanks in advance.
Hey Sim Jit-Shen,
I’ve not been to the show yet.
But for cirque de soleil type of show, I prefer stall which is nearer to the action.
For lion King, Dress Circle might be a good choice as the props are big and the scenes are big too … a further and elevated view gives a better overall perspective (Stall seats tends to be immersive)
So up to your preference
Dear James,
How was the show? I reckon you would have watched it by now?
Im planning to watch it very soon. I was hoping if you could give me a pointer to which seats are best for viewing the show.
Unfortunately, i only have a budget for D reserve Cat 5 ($85). So, with that seat category, would dress circle be better, or the stalls?
do center, left or right, make much difference here?
Appreciate your response.
Thanks very much!
Hi Kireen,
Unfortunately … I still haven’t watch it cos originally wanted to catch it in Las Vegas later this year.
IF I only have the budget for Cat 5 … I would go for circle.
Right at the back, I would want to get a higher elevation to view the whole production and feel the atmosphere … oh and I always take centre where possible
